Week 7: A Picture A Day

I believe I snapped this shot around the end of the Chinese Ghost month, I was heading to the bus stop to go to school when I passed this scene. The whole place was a mess as paper that are used to burn to the Chinese's ancestors are strewn everywhere. I was thinking of how inconsiderate the person who did this was, maybe that person did not really know how to burn the paper as I, myself, do burn these papers to my ancestors and this rarely happens. I feel that there should be a designated area for the burning of these papers and not just on the side of the road where everyone passes by as the ashes and fumes from the burning is not good for passerby.

The form of these clouds differ from what we typically see in Singapore and it deserves to be taken a photo of.  When I see this, I see multiple "cracks" across the sky and I think of this mud mask that I use at home. The mask would dry up and form similar cracks and bumps on my face just like these clouds in the picture above.

I saw this along Marina Bay. This reminds me of a rollercoaster ride. The dynamic lines in this structure captivated my attention. Elegant and minimalistic, it mimics a wave-like movement above the people and provides serenity and shade at the same time.

I was waiting for my bus when this large shuttle bus came. A large group of working adults immediately rushed towards it. in hopes of grabbing a seat on board. There were no lines made and it was rather chaotic. This was a stark contrast to Japan, where everyone lines up orderly and patiently.

It was raining then and the bus stop's light system was not switched on, so it was rather dark for people to see the board where the bus routes are. This man had to switch on his smartphone's torchlight to read it. Maybe some LED lights should be installed on the board so that people can read it.

I was sitting on the train when I noticed this man outlining a rectangle repeatedly with his wet umbrella on the MRT's floor. This is an interesting way to pass time on the train, maybe its a coping mechanism for anxiety or just a habit he picked up. Either way, this is something people would not have notice if they weren't looking around their surroundings. And yet again, this is an example of why we should pay attention to our surroundings more as every person around us is unique and different and there is something worth noticing of.

Heading towards the MRT station after school, I wanted to listen to some music to pass the time so I took my earpiece out and almost put them on when I saw this. The cover had came off and there were exposed wires!! I guess that will teach me not to purchase imitated goods and that I should invest in authentic products.

Reflection:
After 7 weeks of practicing "A Picture A Day", I find myself more aware of my surroundings and I even snap pictures of things that I find interesting almost instantly, without even thinking of it as an assignment that I have to complete. This has really become a habit of mine and I really enjoy finding all these intriguing element around me.
Furthermore, reflecting on the pictures I have taken has also made me appreciate them even more and has also in someway help me express myself better than I could before.
